Review: 'LEA, ELAN'
'Right Anyway'

-  Album: 'My Only Excuse' -  Label: 'Universal SA'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '21/6/10'

Our Rating:
Mention South Africa at the moment and instantly you will likely think World Cup 2010 however, Elan Lea's single Right Anyway is set to dilute all talk of the world cup, especially with a cracking album to follow.

Its hard to pigeon hole happy piano based pop rock but we have heard success from sounds similar to Elan's before now. Think Jason Mraz, Daniel Powter and even One Republic and you begin to see that there is definitely a place for this sort of music. Consequently Elan Lea is set to make a huge impression in the UK.

In Elan's corner are the heavyweights Universal Music and Elan can boast collaborations with Guy Chambers and Grammy winner Dianne Warren, but thats not to say Elans self written music cannot hold its own. From the evidence of Right Anyway his music is strong whether written in collaboration or by himself.

Right Anyway is perfectly indulgent for pop hungry people, a soothing melody is where it all centres and this builds and builds to make an almost perfect chorus and achieves what any good pop song should do. Having said this, to isolate Right Anyway within a pop bracket does not do the track justice and ultimately falls short of why this guy could attract attention.

Elan Lea will undoubtedly attract mainstream attention and I expect his brand of guitar and piano driven pop/rock will have quite a number of people talking.
