'Pretty old school jazzy' with 'moments of pure pop' is how Mancuinian tunesmith Kirsty Almeida's label describe her sound. It's pretty much on the money. That's no real recommendation, though. The four tracks here (well, technically three, as there are two versions of 'Spider') are jazzy, brassy and not just a little bit cliche in their 'big' production values. It's just that bit self-consciously 'arty' and 'muso,' but the standard really isn't much better than a decent club act playing through a better than average PA, or the kind of act you'd find on 'Later... With Joolz Holland. on a bad night.
I'm sure some people will really dig it, but to my ears it's nothing special and vaguely annoying. Next!
