Review: 'ESTEBAN'
'Jump Ship (Single)'

-  Label: 'The Animal Farm'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '28th June 2010'

Our Rating:
Slap this 3 minute single into you hard drive and I-Tunes throws up multiple matches but sadly NOT a single one for Esteban. I chose to play it under the alias of one of the options presented : Ryan Adams' Fix It. Needless to say this sounds nothing much the wayward Alt.Country singer.

More confusing still is that there are four artists sharing the same name.

It would be best to clarify which particular Esteban we are discussing here. This single is by four men from the Midlands (Derby to be precise) who play a no-nonsense brand of Indie rock with a vaguely Latin/Reggae flavour.

They are a hard working bunch. In 2009 the band did over 150 gigs including support slots for Dizzee Rascal and The Zutons.

The record is proof of the tight ship they are running albeit without the sea legs
(see quirky chorus : "My legs can't stand me any more") .

The home-made video for the song (and earlier releases on their website) show them as an unpretentious guys with a good sense of humour, few delusions of grandeur and a love for skateboards.

Music wise it is neither hard rock nor soft pop and, while I'd like tyo be more positive, the best I can say is that it is solid and workmanlike.
