Review: 'LOSERS, THE'
'Sirenna'

-  Label: 'Gung-Ho Recordings!'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Release Date: 'August 2010'

Our Rating:
The current project that sees former Cooper Temple Clause man Tom Bellamy collaborate with Eddy Temple Morris has attracted the attention of some notable names. The Prodigy's Liam Howlett has described 'Sirenna' as 'fucking banging.' He's wrong: it's far too subtle to be banging, and is all the better for it.

Meanwhile, Rob and Gareth of Pendulum have remarked, 'this is the kind of music we want to make!' From these musical magpies, this comes as no surprise. After all, Pendulum make awful records, while 'Sirenna' is actually pretty good.

I'm not exactly a big fan of dance music - a fact that's probably quite well established by now - but I know a good tune when I hear one, and with 'Sirenna,' Losers have nailed a catchy pop sensibility to a breezy dance beat to create a single that just floats at the perfect weight. The laid-back vocals sit nicely with the gently pulsing electro backing, and everything's in balance for a summery vibe.

The early signs are that the imminent debut album, 'Beautiful Losers' - presumably a reference to Leonard Cohen's rather odd novel - will be well worth investigating.
