Review: 'Ono Palindromes'
'The Kool Aid Acid Test'

-  Label: 'Death Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '6th September 2010'

Our Rating:
'Silicone' rattles from the speakers with a roar of energy as Ono Palindrome come out all guns blazing and amps cranked up to eleven. At first, I'm not entirely convinced: I've heard the whole US-style big guitars and shouting done a million times before, and there are moments when 'ËœSilicone' sounds like a grunged-up version of The Cult. That said, the lyrics are belted out with real ferocity: 'You'd better walk away, better walk away / before I lose control' howls Andy Death. I'd probably take his advice, because he doesn't sound like he'll be held responsible for whatever might happen. But it's compelling stuff and I want to stick around to hear what happens next.

It's well worth it, too. With each successive track, the intensity increases another couple of notches, with the grungy riffmongery of 'Loose' followed by 'James Dean,' a whirlwind of dense distorted guitars and truly frenetic percussion and hoarse-throated hollering vocals. A volcanic blend of QOTSA and Fugazi, you can almost hear the sweat being poured into piledriving slabs of raging rock.

'Black Lungs' completes the sonic demolition, blasting the senses with a bass that growls and snarls and tears the air. The result? Complete devastation. Belting.
