Review: 'MINUTES, THE'
'Fleetwood'

-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '13th September 2010'

Our Rating:
These guys make out that they're a collision between Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Fleetwood Mac. Now, having fairly diverse tastes, I happen to like Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, BRMC and Fleetwood Mac. But then, I also like blue cheese, salted peanuts and treacle tart, but I wouldn't want to eat them at the same time.

Still, it turns out that The Minutes don't actually sound like the bands they think they do. Ok, so I get the Fleetwood Mac influence - that's 70s Fleetwood Mac, between the bluesy Peter Green era and 'Tango in the Night' - but if anything, it's the sound of The Mac losing in an arm-wrestle with the members of Free.

It isn't very good. Retro's one thing, but this sounds overblown and histrionic and too self-conscious in its constructed referential cool. Plus, I've spent the last couple of weeks wracking my brain to figure out what other song this reminds me of, and I can't, which annoys the hell out of me. It's deeply frustrating, I can tell you, which pretty much sums up the way I feel about this.
