Review: 'LUCKY SOUL'
'Up In Flames'

-  Label: 'Ruffa'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '16th August 2010'-  Catalogue No: 'inhouse@ruffalane.com'

Our Rating:
With it's stomping backbeat and instant-appeal melody, awash with fiddle strings and harmonies, this is the stuff that daytime radio playlists should be made of!

'Up In Flames' is the third single release from the six-piece band's second album 'A Coming Of Age', already a near-universal success with the critics. Here, the feelgood factor disguises the sourness of the dream as Ali Howard's lead vocals smoulder in sympathy with the song title:

“Give me a lover and a packet of matches” she demands amidst the Motown-inspired mayhem

Songwriter Andrew Laidlaw was aiming for the Philly Soul sound, and he's not a million miles away either. 'Up In Flames' should spell another commercial success for LUCKY SOUL, and rightly so.
