Review: 'Bang Bang Romeo'
'Little Love'

-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '14th September 2010'

Our Rating:
I must confess to having something of a soft spot for Utah Saints. Back in the early 90s, when dance music exploded, they were one of the few chart dance acts I could stomach. I don't recall them having a drummer, though, so the fact that Bang Bang Romeo is the new venture of their former drummer, one Keith Langley. They cite a wildly eclectic range of influences, spanning Joy Division, Hendrix and Depeche Mode... and Lady Gaga. Thankfully, this debut single 'Little Love' isn't nearly as terrible as such an ill-conceived hodge-podge of incongruities might suggest.

Ok, so it's a fairly lightweight slice of chart-friendly disco-pop and as such, likely to sink without trace in the endless sea of chart-friendly disco-pop, but in its favour, it's has a nice production that isn't as compressed-sounding as much of the mid-range morass you hear on the radio, it's catchy, and 16 year old Anastasia Walker's vocals are of a rare quality, as well as being easy on the ear. Whether these factors will be enough to make 'Little Love' a hit, though, I rather doubt.
