Rockabilly has never been my bag so, as far as this listener is concerned, Straight Razor Angels are on a hiding to nothing with their debut album.
Still, the Yorkshire trio - Vegas (vocals and guitars), Deezel Keeble (drums) and Eddie Cleaver (bass) - look like the kind of heavy dudes I'd hate to meet in a dark alley so I'll try and keep things diplomatic.
The album is accurately described as featuring "ten slabs of loud, beefy, punk-fuelled rock'n'roll" which gives fair warning that this is not the place for the faint-hearted.
The first track, On The Pull takes us into a seedy world of sweaty dance floors and one night stands ("recreational bedding") and the settings don't get much brighter after this.

You may meet a "man with a cut throat smile"(Bad Apple) , get your back broken by a baseball bat (Coming Home) or encounter "rivers choked on diesel and rust" (Bad Times).
All this night of the living dead news is relayed via Vegas' 40 fags-a-day vocals and with an unvarying metal-edged macho swagger that tries to bludgeon you into submission.
Not nice.
