To avoid the urge to make any crude semen-related quips, I'll get straight to the music. Ostensibly a gentle, simple acoustic folk song, with nothing but guitar, vocals and bongos, 'Come Running' is a charming, breezy number. However, it's well executed and intelligently written, and brings an idiosyncratic twist to a well-worn and fundamentally conventional formula.
The B-side 'Arise' demonstrates an urgency that’s rare in acoustic music, and while it's too lyrically abstract to qualify as 'protest music,' there is a definite edge and passion in the delivery that make for compelling listening.
Yes, it's fair to say that The Glade are a breath of fresh air.
I'll get my coat.
