The preposterously seriously titled 'Insidious Existentialism' couldn't be anything other than a slab of howling super-metal, and on that front, Newcastle's XisforEyes deliver exactly as advertised. Five behemoth chunks of rumbling, volcanic, self-professed deathcore metal with no let-up from start to finish.
There's no denying the brute force or pulverising power of the percussion or the density of the bass and guitars. For this reason, it's easy to hear why they've been driving audiences berserk with their stage-demolishing, trampolining antics at their live shows.

But at the end of the day, it's just too much, far too over the top to be taken seriously. The bombastic overtones, the endless fretwizardry and Cradle of Filth style dramatics all combine to become overbearing and the initial impact is soon lost in a deluge or ire and melodramatic metal pomp.
When will people learn that less really is more?
