Review: 'GAME, IVOR'
'THEN'

-  Label: 'Self-Release (www.ivorgame.com)'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '12th Oct 2010'-  Catalogue No: 'IGCD8'

Our Rating:
'Then' is IVOR GAME'S eighth album, the latest in a dynasty of remarkable self-releases that stretch back to 1996

These 8 songs, as always, consist of just the London-born and based troubador's enchanting and eccentric guitar and vocal, and are as delicate, appealing and introspective as ever.

Like the loves we lost and the past times we can't have back (although Game contradicts this 6 tracks in with 'There's (always) Time', the artist again sets his sights on the intricate and intimate sides of life

The hushed gorgeousness of 'It's All Lies' gives way to the rolling, raking guitar-sans-voice of 'Everywhere', as well as the gently melodic realisation that there's everything melancholy to ponder.

Quintessentially English in the making, there's further delight in the likes of the brief but memorable falsetto ode to the chequebook-crazed 'Scary Girl' and the enigmatic autobiographical finale 'Mr Misunderstood'.

A regular on the capital's acoustic/cafe-bar circuit, Game is well worth catching in action, just as this, and indeed his entire back-catalogue is well worth checking out.
