Review: 'Moorebeck Stellar'
'A Blind Man's Waltz'

-  Genre: 'Alt/Country'

Our Rating:
I hope every recipient of this lovely CD feels as special as I do, with drawings fluttering out from inside the CD sleeve and extra biro-work on the front cover. The artwork adds to the sense of mystery surrounding this release, with little info on the main protagonists or the journey which led to the creation of this album. The music is reminiscent of Nick Drake and Flaming Lips, bringing a delicate and gentle sense of longing and loss to a stripped down format, with the two main musicians joined by a variety of guests. Their inclusion of more esoteric instruments adds to the somewhat other-worldly air, and makes for soothing, almost soporific listening and means that they may be confined to producing background music for a while. Yet this CD shows great promise, winding together images of a beautiful American midwest and the melancholy of a sunset. Please give it a listen when you have the chance to sit back and sip a drink whilst watching the world go by.
