Of National Importance records are rapidly establishing themselves as the label for indie bands of quality from the Yorkshire region. So if the idea of a Barnsley based indie rock band doesn't thrill you (and I have to say the description didn't exactly fill me with gleeful anticipation), then you might be pleasantly surprised by Goldsoul's debut. I wasn't prepared for the solid production, the guitars fizzing, up in the mix and filling every inch of space.
The composition may be indie, but the delivery is definitely rock and it's big on energy. The same is true of the stomping 'Waiting A Lifetime'. Sure, it's a bit Foo Fighters, but it somehow manages to feel fresh, keen and genuine. Goldsoul sound like the band Oasis should have been, and if they'd taken notes from BRMC and had the vision to burn the pub rock template. Stormin'.
