Review: 'Monsters Build Mean Robots'
'Weshouldhavedestroyedourgeneralsnottheirenemies'

-  Label: 'NWFA Records'
-  Genre: 'Post-Rock' -  Release Date: '18th July 2011'-  Catalogue No: 'NWFA09'

Our Rating:
Monster Build Mean Robots are yet another exponent of the Brighton scene that highlight the diversity of the music emerging from the extremely fertile south coast spot right now. A post-rock record that actually rocks, there's a hint of The Twilight Sad about this five-track EP, albeit without the strongly Scottish overtones.

Achieving both delicacy and majestic force, it's an accomplished effort, even if some of the tracks do veer into stadium territory on occasion, such as 'Lament 77 (WE Will Follow)'. The last two tracks, 'The Witches and the Liars' and 'A Reverie for the riots' are both slow-building epics that simmer their way to soaring crescendos.
