Our Rating:
If you like British dub and reggae then perhaps DUBWISER are the band for you? They are certainly a band who know what they are doing and do it well. You may also say that they know what they like and like what they know. Let’s start with Papa Is A Rudie which has a real good time feel to it and a summery production. Bang Up is my favourite track and is due to be released as a single. It features a mix of vocalists with an array of styles and a well nice guitar lead. It’s a perfect mash up with good social commentary. The next track Slowly has a wah wah guitar lead and some choice female vocals and this brings the set down nicely.

Come Forward is simply a great song in the classic reggae mould. Now I wouldn’t want you to panic but Organic is about organic food. “You eat badness and you fade away”. It’s a tongue in cheek track but in actual fact it’s a damn catchy tune. Don’t panic! Cool U Fire comes next and should be nailed on for a future single. It has a great vocal hook a smooth toast and the production is spot on.

In criticism I would say the band play a little safe with this album in the sense that they try all the styles from heavy dub to classic reggae and this gives me the impression of ‘covering all bases’. Couple this with it being a rather long set and I feel this is not necessarily conducive to a ‘great’ album. It is however a very good album and the more I listen to it the more I like it. As long as the sun stays out this will be on in the car and the windows will be down. Let’s skank to a fine blend.
