Given Yinka Oyewole's diverse cultural background - born in Romford, Essex to Nigerian parents, schooled in the North of Scotland and now resident in South London, it's hardly surprising that his band, Sabatta draw on a range of influences to create an unusual fusion. What's perhaps suprising, then, is the fact that much of Sabatta's third album sounds more American than anything else.
There's a huge dollop of Hendrix behind the wigged out guitar work, bolstered by a driving bass sound. But then there are tracks like the funked-up 'Living the Life' that owes more to Prince. And if the fizzy guitars on 'Career Playing Bad Guys' suggests lo-fi US punk, then the scorching solo tells an entirely different story.

The drum 'n' funky bass and ill-fitting prog-rock chorus and grunge middle eight of 'Revelation' isn't entirely successful, but you've got to hand it to them for trying and for keeping it fresh.
On balance, Sabatta deserve a thumbs up for this effort.
