Review: 'Buffalo Killers'
'3'

-  Album: '3' -  Label: 'Alive Records'
-  Genre: 'Alt/Country'

Our Rating:
The slow fade can so often be a disappointment: sometimes it suggests there’s more after the fade, and the listener is left wondering what it may be, and how much has been cut, but sometimes, it simply suggests the artist can’t think of a way to finish the song. It’s the latter that ‘Huma Bird’, the first track on Buffalo Killers’ ‘3’ implies after a dull, five-minute Eagles-like stroll in the (alt) country, and it sets the tone for the rest of the album.

Mellow and melodic , it’s also plodding and never really gets going. It’s not that I’m demanding car crashes, explosions and high drama, spectacular crashing crescendos or high-octane barrages of power-chords here, but some points of interest really would make all the difference. The verses drift indistinctly into the instantly forgettable choruses, and after a few songs it really does get to be a drag.
