Review: 'GORDON, BOBBIE'
'Matters Of The Heart (EP)'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '14th November 2011'

Our Rating:
Bobbie Gordon has a bright and bubbly personality somewhat at odds with the fact that she mostly sings about being ditched.

"I lost the one I love" she laments on Fallen From Grace; "You left a note on my pillow........ and your heart by the front door" she recalls in Radio.

Maybe she's so upbeat about this is because it means she's able to write songs about the experiences and prove to the world that she's strong and determined enough to get over the pain.

Better, pronounced like a true London lady ('bet-ah') is described as her mission statement with its 'I will survive' message. It's a tried and tested formula and maximising commercial potential is the primary aim with this debut release.

Her music is described as "intimate folk-pop with a heavy dash of soul" and the EP contains five tracks and one messy cut and paste Remix of Better by NFIFTYFIVE.

The title track is the catchiest tune here and offers the best breakthrough potential. It comes with a sunny video in which the curvaceous singer dances cheerily. A case of 'what you see is what you get'.

Having toured with Adele and Noisettes, her publicists hope that some of the stardust will have rubbed off. They are pushing Bobbie Gordon as a potential next big thing for 2012 but I think she needs a sassier image for this dream to become reality.
