Our Rating:
Against a backdrop of softly squelching electronic pulses, synthetic beats and fuzzy washes of analogue keyboard sounds, you will find soft, melodic vocals swimming in reverb and smoothed down into the mix.

‘Eccentric, weird electro-kraut-melodic indie rock’ is how the press release describes it, and yes, I guess that covers it, more or less, only it’s not really all that weird or eccentric. Perhaps that says more about my musical tastes and the kind of far-out weirdness I’ve been exposed to in the past few years, but really, it’s pretty tame.

‘Ooze Yeah Ooze’ is like a chillout / trance remix of a Talking Heads outtake, and that’s one of the standout tracks. For the most part, the metronomic electro beats are content to shuffle around in the background, the whole recording the sonic equivalent of soft focus. All well and good, but it makes no attempt to grab the listener by the throat and shake them out of their torpor – in fact, the opposite is true, with ‘YOY’ seeming like an exercise in polite aural banality. Yawn.
