Review: 'LEGER, JERRY'
'Traveling Grey'

-  Label: 'Self Released'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '2011'

Our Rating:
I get bored of singer-songwriters being compared to Bob Dylan but sometimes the similarity is so striking that there is no alternative.

Canada's Jerry Leger may be writing from his own experience but the vocal nuances and bitter-sweet travelling tunes owe practically everything to His Bobness.

Even the fiddle of James McKie as part of the backing band (The Situation) takes its cues from Dylan's Desire-period.

The tune for Dreamer, Pretender is a ringer for Visions Of Johanna and other story songs borrow heavily from his musical mentor.

"Whenever I write, I'm just dipping into myself" says Leger but to my ears he sounds more like he's dipping into his record collection.
