Pah. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: three versions of one track plus an additional track is not an EP. Well, not a proper one. It’s a single with remixes, and I’ve already written more than enough about my feelings toward remixes.
The original version of ‘Nexus’ bips, bumps and squelches on in a swamp of reverb for six monotonous dubby minutes, a feat repeated for a minute less on the Dark Arx Soundsystem version. Perhaps surprisingly, it’s the longest of the versions that caught my attention: Tin Man’s eight-minute reworking strips the already minimalist sound right back to a relentless beat and almost subliminal bassline before overlaying some queasy, echoey vocals.

The ‘other’ track, ‘Aldo’ (or ‘Amber’ according to my promo copy), is little more than a drum-machine solo with incidentals, although with a motoric bassline low in the mix, it does build toward a trance-like groove.
