Our Rating:
The 12 songs on this album are a fusion of twang, jangle and pop with strong melodies and a laid-back vibe.

They reflect the perspective of lead singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist S.D. Ineson who was born in England but who has immersed himself in melodic Americana and "folky funkiness".

Based in North Carolina, the core of six band members pictured on the album sleeve are supplemented by Joyce Bowden on backing vocals and Nashville multi-instrumentalist, Jick wins-Low who also produced the album.

Instruments like the vintage Hammond organ, accordion and 'blues harp' (all played by Lee Kirby) add extra range to their rootsy, soft rock sound.

Love songs like Evangelyne / Pennsylvania Rose rub shoulders with sleepy ballads that would be ideal soundtracks to an unhurried stroll down a dusty trail or two.

The key track is Don't Give It Up with the 'it' being a "love for the earth and heaven above". This is a reflection of S.D.'s concern for the neglect of the environment : "I want to promote a more sustainable viewpoint", he says, and the song a gentle plea for sanity rather than a fierce cry of rage.

It forms the centrepiece to a smoothly performed and slickly produced album in which the lack of fire in the belly means that the temperature never rises above lukewarm.
