Monday, and a taxing day at the office. I mean hellish.
Got home, rifled through my gargantuan stack of CDs. Something angry to provide an outlet and to reflect the frustration of a draining, headache-inducing day? Or an old favourite, something comforting, reassuring, the musical equivalent of some well-worn slippers?
The answer came in the form of Monty Adkins’ latest offering. Minimal, soft, tranquil and calming, ‘Four Shibusa’ floated in like a breath of fresh air. Not a rush, so much as a gentle sonic breeze. Background music it may be, but it’s beautifully considered and engineered to deliver optimum emollience. Slowly, my springs uncoiled. Lovely.
