The instrumentation is tight and there are some decent enough rock tunes to be found here, and it’s not hard to fathom how they’ve landed support slots with Attack! Attack! And Feeder. That isn’t to say there’s anything dazzlingly original going on, but the tracks are played with sufficient zeal and competency to make you think these guys have got game. But the vocals, while there’s nothing inherently wrong with them, are just, well, nondescript. It’s not a problem per se, but with the standard of the backing, they’re the weak link.
The acoustic tracks – three stripped-back recordings of EP tracks – are rather superfluous and really add nothing. In fact, if anything, they detract from the impact of the snappy 5-tracker.
