What threatens at first to be just another generic EBM / Industrial effort that takes its cues from NIN, Depeche Mode and the Wax Trax! back catalogue soon develops into a snarling, rage-filled beast. According to the press, frontman Paul McGregor recounts that the track was written “after a day reading medical papers and then seeing a piece on the news about religious female circumcision that angered me and disgusted me to my core”.
‘Locus of Control’ articulates that anger and disgust, channelling it into a powerful musical statement. As the first single to be taken from Ulterior’s forthcoming album, due early next year, it certainly augers well for those who like their electro dark, industrial and hard-edged.
