Review: 'Caviare Days'
'The Awakening EP'

-  Label: 'Label 259'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '26th November 2012'

Our Rating:
It’s not hard to understand why people are talking up Caviare Days. ‘You’ll Qualify’ stomps along in a glittery shimmer of sassy garage glam, half Roxy Music, half something altogether grittier, guitarier, grungier.

Lead track ‘The Awakening’ sounds like The Mamas and the Papas gone shoegaze, and ‘When the Light is Breaking’ is a sweetly-tuned amalgam of swirling guitars reminiscent of early Ride and dreamy pop boasting Beatles-esque melodies. And it still manages to pack in some rock ‘n’ roll swagger, too. ‘The Lucky Ones’ brings the EP to a shimmering finale, balancing bright indie pop tones with psychedelia and a subtly dark undercurrent.

Overall, Caviare days have ‘dropped’ (as the kids say) a tantalising debut that showcases a sound that’s divergent, accessible and really rather good.
