Comprising former and current members of Angel Witch, Winters, Obiat and Zoltan, The Claw could be considered something of a metal supergroup. The press blurb informs us that the ‘secretive’ band take ‘cues for their progressive psychedelic rock from such scattered sources as Rush, Voivod, King Crimson and Cardiacs’. It all sounds promising enough, and their debut single release, ‘Seize Decay’ begins promisingly, with a dense guitar heavy with portent driving the opening bars, and then... then it all ends up being a rather forgettable effort that doesn’t really go anywhere. Oh well.
