Review: 'ELARA'
'Soundtrack For A Quiet Place EP'

-  Label: 'Fluttery Records'
-  Genre: 'Post-Rock' -  Release Date: '1st February 2013'-  Catalogue No: 'FLTTRY052'

Our Rating:
Guitar, drum and bass are the ingredients of this self-proclaimed post-rock/ 'heavy ambient' band from Italy. This debut EP was recorded in the Republic of San Marino.

The three instrumental tracks are grandly titled Me And You Under the Aurora Borealis, We Are Infinite and Seljalandsfloss. The fact that the third of these is named after a famous waterfall in Iceland should give a clue to where the trio's influences lie.

Like Sigur Ros, and countless others, this is music designed to transport you from the hustle and bustle of daily life into the drama of the natural world.

As a band statement explains: "We tried to give shape to this need for the soul, notes and melodies, crescendos and atmospheres"

It drifts along pleasantly although never hits the epic emotional heights they are striving for.
