Review: 'Sleepy Tea'
'Make Believe'

-  Genre: 'Indie'

Our Rating:
There aren’t many Australian bands break through in the UK for some reason. In my (admittedly fairly limited) experience, this seems something of an injustice. They don’t all sound like INXS or AC/DC after all, and it’s not all Kylie and Jason, either. A little while ago, I discovered Underminers. Their quiet, introspective album, ‘Heart Part of Your Mind’ really struck me, and I was astounded – and elated – when I heard one of the track from it on ‘Neighbours’ quite by accident some time later.

Sleepy Tea look like being another act who will probably receive a lot less attention than they deserve. Understated, melodic folky indie that drifts dreamily into the setting sun is what ‘Make Believe’ is all about. Released as a taster for their debut EP (which in turn will be a taster for their debut album), it’s sensitive, layered, elusive in its form, and really rather good.
