The band photo portrays The Narrows as a bunch of studious hipster laptop nerds. The opening bars don’t do anything to change that impression, as a dreamy wash of synths and electronic beat pave the way for a rather thin, uninspiring vocal that’s actually more indie than dance… and then things start to mutate. An urgent acoustic guitar changes the song’s entire emphasis before the strings start to layer up and then... And then comes the breakdown… yes, it’s synth-heavy, but it’s also built around heavy synths which then lead toward a thumping and unexpected conclusion.
