Review: 'Locust'
'You’ll Be Safe Forever'

-  Album: 'You’ll Be Safe Forever' -  Label: 'Editions Mego'
-  Genre: 'Dance' -  Catalogue No: 'eMEGO 162'

Our Rating:
The rather lightweight shoegaze dance of the first track, ‘Fall for Me’, proves to be somewhat misleading, as the strange mangled sample on the 27-second interlude ‘I Hear a Quiet Voice’ and the thumping EBM techno of ‘Strobes’ which immediately follow attest. The clattering industrial rhythm of ‘Just Want You’ is countered by some spaced-out guitar and synth.

The little interlude pieces provide neat bridges and changes of mood and tempo between the full-length tracks, and tend to border on ambience with beats.

There’s no shortage of leftfield oddness and atmosphere permeating ‘You’ll Be Safe’, with the shuffling downbeat trip-hop groove of ‘The Flower Lady’ being particularly compelling.
